American author Annie Dillard said "How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives". It seems so obvious and yet we overlook this simple fact all of the time. Take the current lock-down for example. I know it's hell for some and a great inconvenience for others, and for some it's actually a great relief. Wherever your starting point is, it is here whether we like it or not. We might find ourselves cranking forward the clock to weeks or months away when life can return to normal. But what is that? Back to busy
-ness and possibly even willing on the next thing to be out of the way. In the meantime, our lives are unfolding as each day, as each moment, passes. How many times do we say "I'll be happy when.....the mortgage is paid off....I can have a beer on Friday night.....when I have finished this project"? Actually, as long as your TRUE circumstances are OK and your basic human needs and rights are met...you can be happy now. How you spend today is an investment in the story of your life.
